Rules

1. 1. The North County Times & The Californian “Take Me Shopping Trivia Contest” begins February 17, 2008 and ends Sunday, April 6, 2008.
2. 2. No purchase or consideration is necessary to enter. Entry forms will be printed weekly from Sunday, February 17, 2008 - Sunday, April 6, 2008 in the North County Times, including The Californian. Entry forms may also be picked up at all North County Times offices, including The Californian in Temecula, or at www.nctimes.com/takemeshopping .
3. 3. The sweepstakes are open to all legal residents of the United States. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age as of April 6, 2008. Employees of Lee Enterprises dba North County Times, The Californian, their parent or sister companies or any immediate family members are ineligible.
4. 4. One weekly winner will be drawn among correct entries at random for a total of eight weeks. Eight weekly winners will receive $200 in gift cards from select area retailers. One grand prize winner will win $1,000 in gift certificates to select area stores.
5. 5. No substitutions or transfers of a prize by a winner are permitted.
6. 6. A winner assumes all risks and agrees that Lee Enterprises dba the North County Times, The Californian, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, agencies and employees have no liability in connection with the acceptance or use of the prize. A winner shall be solely responsible for all federal, state and local income and other taxes associated with the prize and for any insurance related to the use of any prize. This sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law. Federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
7. 7. To enter the giveaway, complete the entry form with the correct answers. Only one (1) entry per person per week is permitted. Only one (1) entry will be accepted per envelope. Do not include checks, forms or letters with entry. Only original entry forms will be accepted. No copies or facsimiles of entry forms are permitted. Entry forms may be mailed to: Take Me Shopping Trivia Contest, c/o North County Times, 207 E Pennsylvania Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025. Lee Enterprises is not responsible for undelivered or delayed mail. People who live outside the delivery area of certain sales flyers may view that week’s flyers at any North County Times office, including The Californian in Temecula.
8. 8. Prize winners will be notified by telephone. Prize must be claimed in person at the nearest North County Times office, including The Californian in Temecula.
9. 9. By acceptance of any prize, a winner consents to the use of his or her name, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising or trade, without further compensations, unless prohibited by law.
10. 10. Decisions of the judges are final in all matters pertaining to the North County Times Take Me Shopping Trivia Contest. Judges reserve the right to withdraw the Trivia Contest or make changes at any time. Lee Enterprises in its sole discretion shall name any and all judges.
11. 11. As a condition to eligibility for any prize, a winner shall execute and return an affidavit and release by which he or she represents and covenants (a) that he or she has read and understood these Rules; (b) that he or she is bound by all of the provisions of these Rules; (c) that he or she will be solely responsible for all federal, state and local income and other taxes associated with the prize and for any insurance related to the use of the prize; and (d) that he or she will indemnify and hold harmless, Lee Enterprises dba the North County Times, The Californian and any other prize sponsors, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, agencies and employees, from and against any liability (including reasonable attorneys' fees) incurred by any of them as a result of or arising out of any breach of the foregoing representations or covenants. Grand prize winners are required to complete a W9 form.
12. 12. By submitting an entry form to the North County Times Take Me Shopping Trivia Contest, an entrant acknowledges his or her agreement to the above rules and restrictions and permission to use entrant's name, address and phone number of marketing and promotional purposes by Lee Enterprises dba the North County Times and The Californian.

FAQ

1. What is Take Me Shopping Trivia?
   Take Me Shopping Trivia is a preprint trivia contest. Readers answer trivia questions based on sales flyers inserted in the Sunday North County Times and The Californian for a chance to win valuable gift cards to area retailers.
2. How it Works:
   PLAY - An entry form with trivia questions based on the advertising inserts in that Sunday's newspaper will be published in the North County Times and The Californian each Sunday starting February 17, 2008 through April 6, 2008.
   CLIP - Participants clip out the entry form and answer any five of the 10 questions correctly. Entries are mailed to Take Me Shopping Trivia Contest, c/o North County Times, 207 E Pennsylvania Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025 or dropped off at any North County Times office, including The Californian in Temecula.
   WIN - Entries are put in a drawing for that week's $200 in gift cards. One entry is drawn each Friday. All entries with correct answers will be put into the grand finale drawing for $1,000 dollars in gift cards on April 10, 2008.
3. Entry forms:
   Each Sunday beginning Sunday February 17, 2008 and April 6, 2008 an entry form with trivia questions will print inside the North County Times and The Californian. No purchase necessary. Entry forms may be obtained at any North County Times office, including The Californian in Temecula or online at www.nctimes.com/takemeshopping . Sales flyers from participating retailers will be available to review at all North County Times offices, including The Californian in Temecula. Sales flyers disbursements are limited to the amount published in the North County Times, including The Californian on the request date. No photocopies of entry forms will be accepted. Entries must be received by 5pm on the Wednesday following Sunday publication.
4. What if someone is a non-subscriber or did not receive a particular preprint?
   Non-subscribers may view flyers at all North County Times offices, including The Californian in Temecula, and can log on to www.nctimes.com/takemeshopping starting Sunday, February 17 to get that week's trivia questions. The trivia questions will be posted online every Sunday for each week. The answers for that week's Trivia questions will be posted on www.nctimes.com/takemeshopping on Thursdays starting February 21, 2008. You can answer the questions and submit your entry on www.nctimes.com/takemeshopping or you can print out the entry form and mail it to Attn: Take Me Shopping Trivia Contest, c/o North County Times, 207 E Pennsylvania Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025 or drop off your entry form at any North County Times office, including The Californian in Temecula.
5. Who can play?
   Anyone 18 years of age or older.
6. Can employees play?
   Employees and the immediate family of participating businesses including Lee Enterprises are not eligible to play.
