MURRIETA -- A proposal for a presentation to high-schoolers on gun violence, similar to the "Every 15 Minutes" presentation on drunken driving, will go before the Public Safety Commission tonight.
After hearing about the school shooting in Santee in which two teen-agers died and 13 were injured, Murrieta resident Bob Muth decided a graphic presentation on gun violence might prompt students to report threats to school personnel so that incidents like the shooting earlier this month might be prevented.
The presentations would simulate an incident where a student who brings a gun to school shoots fellow students. The coroner and police would arrive to simulate what would happen in a shooting's aftermath.
He has sent the proposal to Murrieta Police Chief Dan Higginbotham and Murrieta Valley Unified School District Superintendent Chet Francisco and they are reviewing it.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in Murrieta City Council Chambers, 26442 Beckman Court.
