TEMECULA -- The Wolf Creek project was headed for yet another hurdle late Tuesday as the City Council considered a series of resolutions which, if passed, would lead to the approval of plans for the 1,881-home project.

About 85 people were on hand for the proceeding, which promised to stretch until midnight.

The first resolution was a certification of the final environmental impact report, deemed "adequate for purposes of making decisions on the merits of the specific plan and related actions," according to the staff report.

If accepted by the council, that would open the door for approval of a general plan amendment. The proposed resolution deemed the project compatible with the health, safety and welfare of the community, with the surrounding land uses, and stated that it is consistent with the goals and policies of the adopted general plan.

The council was also expected to vote on whether to approve the specific plan for Wolf Creek, followed by approval of a zoning ordinance and residential development standards.

The final resolution was for the subdivision of 557 acres into 47 lots representing the proposed housing, open-space areas, school and park sites.
