The Oceanside Police Department and the North County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will host a law enforcement career night for adults and students at 7 p.m. on Monday at the department, 3855 Mission Ave. Adults, high school and college students will learn about the positions of police officer, dispatcher, field evidence technician, public service officer and community safety assistant, how to apply for the positions and how to successfully complete the hiring process. Innerfiesta Music will present "Hammerdance," a concert of original music by pianist John Naples and dual guitarist Jimmy Patton, at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Library Auditorium, 1775 Dove Lane. Encinitas

Seagate Concerts held its annual Young Artist Competition on Feb. 17. First place honors and a $500 savings bond went to flutist Jesse Schiffman, 17, who performed the "Ballade" by Frank Martin. Jesse will perform with the Orchestra of San Dieguito at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at San Dieguito United Methodist Church. Second place and a $250 savings bond went to pianist Kendro Calica, 14, who performed the Grieg Piano Concerto. Third place and a $150 savings bond went to pianist Johanna Hsieh, 10, who performed Mozart's A major Piano Concerto. Because of the quality of performers, an honorable mention was awarded, for the first time, to pianist Lisa Zhu, 11, who performed the Mozart F major Piano Concerto.

Boy Scout Steve Cohen will conduct a blood drive as part of his Eagle Scout project from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 621 S. Stage Coach Lane.
