Alan Cross ran for three touchdowns and returned an interception the length of the field for another score as Cal Lutheran pummeled host Christian Center Academy in Metro League play Saturday afternoon, 58-12.
Cross had two interceptions in the game to go with seven tackles and 125 rushing yards on 16 carries. The C-Hawks ground game totaled 306 yards in the game, thanks to 140 from sophomore Mario Guzman in just seven carries. Guzman scored twice on runs of seven and 43 yards and ran in two two-point conversions.
"We're going to have to keep improving to make a run in the playoffs," C-Hawks coach Dave Peter said.
Gabe Gaitan (three yards) and Ryan Campbell (13 yards) also posted scoring runs for Cal Lutheran (4-2, 1-1 Metro). Campbell's score with 2:06 remaining in the third quarter stopped the game by the 45-point mercy rule.
Orlando Briceno also had an interception to go with a team-high 11 tackles. The C-Hawks defense held the Warriors ground game to a negative four yards in the game.
Christian Center's only two scores came on kick returns of 78 and 75 yards by the Warriors' Michael Valdez.
